The organizational background and goals

We came together in 2022 at the behest of Children Homes Founders Association of Kenya to advise them on how to fundraise for the children homes. We came face to face with the abject uncertainty of the finances of these facilities. Most were on the verge of closing due financial constraints. Meanwhile the number of vulnerable children was growing exponentially due to the persistent drought, the COVID-19 pandemic devastation of the economy and the global financial recession. We felt that an aggressive fundraising organization was an urgent imperative to save thousands of children from the grim reality starvation.  

The Organizational Structure

The overall governance of Shirika la Kusaidia Watoto wa Kenya is vested upon its board members who annually vote in the executive chair, secretary, treasurer and two other members. The chair acts as the coordinator and Chief Executive Officer. In recruiting executive committee members, we look for people of unquestionable character and possess abilities which can be harnessed to benefit the organization, and those who understand the issues of vulnerable children and are committed to the organization’s mission and vision.

The executive committee formulates policies and makes decisions that see the organization through achieving its goals and objectives. The executive committee is also in charge of funds mobilization as well as financial oversight. The executive committee reviews financial statements and approves the annual budget and any budget adjustments.

The executive committee meets monthly, or at the behest of the coordinator. If executive committee members have an urgent issue, they can also summon the executive committee through the coordinator.
