Children should never doubt that they are Valued & Secure
In African traditional societies destitute children were always viewed as a communal responsibility. Children viewed grownups as secondary parents. Vestiges of that notion still persist in our society in Kenya. We are advocating for rejuvenating this tradition in which orphaned and needy children can be assisted in family settings including ones in which the children are taken in by unrelated well-wishers. Unlike children homes the new caregivers do not have established fundraising strategies. This may reverse gains and increase the vulnerabilities of the children. This is where we come in.
We form support networks that enable children from underprivileged homes and their parents to connect with various sponsors who donate their time, skill and resources. Shirika la Kusaidia Watoto wa Kenya is therefore fundraising to support various programs but also bringing together the government and organizations that are able to offer support to these caregivers.
